The Paper Brigade

Ok so this technically is not a DCOM (or Disney Channel Original Movie for those of you who don't know) but it is a hell of a good movie and I remember seeing in a ton of times on Disney Channel. So why not start with it?

This is a classic plot of a kid who moves from a big city to a small town and has to learn how to fit in. Gunther Wheeler http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_kvntdobdNW1qa6xago1_500.jpg is our main character and he needs money to buy tickets for a concert that he wants to take the local hottie, Allison, to. His only option is to take a job as a paperboy with a group on neighborhood kids. Of course, it's not that easy of a job; he needs to wake up at 5:00 am. Anyone remember his alarm clock? If not, you might want to go to 7:34 in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lFjR8R4cEY ...it sure brought back memories for me. And then his route... There's some easy houses but there's also the giant tree house with the kids throwing fruit (?), the house with the vicious dog, and of course Crazy Man Cooper with his paintball gun and his killer geese. The movie starts getting cool when he figures out how to get around these obstacles and deliver his papers on time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DABgNqkMj60&feature=related at 1:40. Throughout, he grows close to Mrs. Hansen, the old woman who watches baseball and can't get her papers by herself. Then the bullies take over the routes and the Paper Brigade must fight to take them back with the help of the crazy people from the route. After they stick it to the bullies, Gunther gives up his date with Allison to take Mrs Hansen to a baseball game.

Overall, it was a great movie. Some movies from back when we were kids seem corny when you go back and watch them but this isn't one of them. It had some really unique humor and I'll give it an 8 out of 10. Thanks!
